Sisters
Being an only child, I don't have the experience of having siblings. Don't get me wrong, there were always kids at our house (my mom was a babysitter from 5am-5pm during the week). But, at the end of the day, they went home. I didn't have to share all of my toys, just the ones in the toy box. Now I am grown up, married, and have two daughters (Brenna-7 yrs old & Abby-10 yrs old). Watching their interactions with each other has been a whole new experience for me.
Peace
Some days, the girls get along wonderfully. They work together, and play together. Other days, not so much!! As they are growing up and changing, I am noticing the days of peace are becoming less and less. Abby is getting closer to being a teen, and is starting to be more interested in friends and privacy. Brenna, doesn't quite understand why her sister doesn't want to share everything going on in her life. And then....
War
Some days it is all I can do, to keep them from killing each other!! They know how to push each others buttons. Especially Brenna, she has always been able to do things to upset Abby. It's, "she touched my things" or "she's only picking up her stuff, and I'm picking up everything". As the school week goes on, they get fairly tired by the end of the week. That is when the claws come out. I hear Abby bossing Brenna from the other room, the rude comments under her breath when her sister doesn't do what she wants her to do. But....
Love
They love each other unconditionally. No matter what, they have each others backs. I don't mean they get along all the time, and it's all rainbows and sunshine. Haha!! Far from that. I mean that if one is upset about something that happened at school, the other is concerned and wants to help. If Brenna is having a hard time understanding something with her homework, Abby is there to explain and help. Because when Mom tries to explain, it's never right!! Even though her sister comes in and says the exact same thing, then it somehow all makes sense. They feed off of each others emotions, and build each other up when one is down. If someone gets hurt, the other tries to take care of her.
It's amazing to me how two people can argue and fight, but at the end of the day they love each other and will do anything for the other. Some days are peaceful, while others feel like a war zone; but everyday at some point they show each other love, and that is the most important thing to me!! I hope they grow up to be best friends, and always have each others backs!!
